It should take just a few seconds to connect; when my turntable and speaker paired together, the Get Together 2 gave a little drum flourish to let me know. The company focuses on using sustainable materials in its products; it’s a compelling feature, but one that comes at a premium.

Along with the excellent and cool-looking bamboo plinth, there's a recyclable aluminum alloy platter and, around the edges, a black fabric made of 30% organic cotton, 30% reclaimed hemp, and 40% recycled polyethylene terephthalate. With décor that veers from red and black with leopard print to a pink and jade-green jungle bedroom, this turntable fits in with both styles.Sure, there are plenty of live TV streaming deals if you want to watch online, but what if you want traditional cable? Maybe you've noticed that your Roku device hasn't been working as fast lately, or you've encountered a glitch or two with some of your favorite apps. Enjoy a classic sound system that wirelessly connects to any Bluetooth® speaker and offers a built-in switch pre-amp allowing seamless compatibility with your Marley speakers or in-home receivers. It’s not meant to compete against an audiophile turntable, but it produces sound that’s superior to most beginner record players. This way, I don’t have to worry about unnecessary wear on my stylus when a finished record keeps spinning as I clean the bathroom.

The good thing about the Stir It Up turntable is it’s a solid enough device that it’s worth spending the money to make the switch if and when you’re ready. It’s ideal for those who care about the environment and sustainability, and it’s not too daunting to set up either, even for those who are new to turntables. Sure, I've used some, but they were all-in-ones that had speakers and preamps built in, and I had friends who set up the arm balance.

Playing record is a matter of placing the record on the platter, setting the speed as required, unclipping the arm, pulling the arm lowering lever FORWARD to lift it, moving the arm over the record (which starts the platter rotating), then pushing the lever BACK to lower it (I found the lever worked the opposite way to what I expected). There’s zero mention of the concept, something that will cause frustration for new users unfamiliar with turntables. Once paired, there is a master Bluetooth volume knob on the turntable itself—although you can control volume on the speaker as well.Aluminium and glass are both infinitely recyclable, while cork is made from stripped-down bark as opposed to cut-down trees. The turntable comes in a branded cardboard box with a sturdy carry handle and removable outer sleeve with a fetching foliage design.

The Get Together 2 is a fully portable Bluetooth speaker, so I placed both the turntable and speaker on separate bookshelves and didn't have to worry about any cords (though I did have to keep an eye on the battery of the Get Together 2). House of Marley has managed to build a company that promotes an eco-friendly philosophy while delivering audio quality that’s probably better than it needs to be to succeed in the market. I have a really nice turntable, but it sits across the room from the sound bar, and I really didn’t want to keep that wire after removing all the others. Lifting the tonearm into place sets the glass platter spinning, and I was impressed at how fast it gets up to speed — it’s on par with many direct-drive turntables I’ve used.Rewind textile , turntable, belt, aluminum plate, counterweight, 45 rpm adapter, universal AC adapter with international connectors, USB cable, 3. I found the anti-skate was “pullier” than usual as well, and I had to dial it back almost to zero to prevent the tonearm from pulling back before the end of a side. The included instructions offer two options for balancing it: using the included stylus pressure gauge, or using your eye to make the tonearm parallel with the platter. The trickier part comes when it’s time to add the weight to the arm, to ensure the record plays smoothly without scratching. I have both the House of Marley and a Pro-ject Primary E and would say the HoM is the better sounding, despite the PJ getting all the plaudits review wise.
