It’s considered a Graphic Novel but is short enough that it could also hold a child's attention span. Denham then describes something monstrous connected to the island, a legendary entity known to the islanders as "Kong".

Meanwhile, an Allosaurus approaches a terrified Ann, whose screams alert Kong, who rushes back and confronts the Allosaurus. When the gorilla leaves Ann to investigate the noise, a pterosaur swoops from the sky and clutches Ann in its talons. The enthralling story of King Kong involves battles with dinosaurs, daring rescues and incredible escapes - endless thrills lead up to one of the most famous climaxes of all time!Unfortunately, I did find the book’s storyline quite slow and unexpectedly struggled to maintain interest in finishing the book myself. Ann Darrow has a Marilyn Monroe appearance but I didnt find Kong scary enough, although the illustrations are very detailed. Never before appearing as a full colour book, there will not be a dry eye in the house as the last page is turned.

The events on Skull Island had me feeling quite sorry for Kong as he monotonously fought off new creature after creature at each turn of the page with no sign of a reprieve. The story follows the movie completely, showing the trip to Skull Island, the emergence and capture of the great Kong and then the tragedy on top of the Empire State Building. I decided to read this book because I have seen the movie and I wanted to know what the book was like.

Anthony Browne has always acknowledged this classic cult movie to be one of the most potent influences on his work, and now he presents his own version with striking full color illustrations. Este libro plantea la barbarie ejercida por el hombre civilizado que act a con mayor brutalidad que la "bestia" a la que combate. Every picture features the image of ape hidden with in the details, such as a hamburger or wood grain. But his collaborator and subsequently co-director and producer of the film, not only did so but it is more than likely a relation of his, Richard Merrion Cooper who wrote the text of this book to accompany Anthony Browne's superb illustrations. I bought this for my nine year old son, who is a big fan of the film of King Kong, and he was riveted.
