Unfortunately, the second half of the book – Richard III’s reign and the rise of the Tudors – seems rushed, hopping from event to event with little to no build up or explanation for motivations. But I know that these books appeal to a range of people who have different preferences when it comes to reading historical fiction and I think that Conn Iggulden does an excellent job in catering for most tastes. Also, at his point, I do hope this series ends at a strong point of the conflict because at the moment I can’t really see at what point on the timeline it could be concluded. The Percy family decides to side with the Lancasters and the King, while the Nevilles side with the Yorkist cause. Historical fiction master Conn Iggulden retells the gripping story of the English Civil War in this first instalment of his latest Wars of the Roses series.

Following Margaret of Anjou, Bloodline is the third epic installment in master storyteller Conn Iggulden’s new Wars of the Roses series. Given how many twists and turns there are in this period of history it is hard to see if Iggulden will remain on one side throughout the series but at the moment he is clearly flying the Lancastrian flag. His previous two series, on Julius Caesar and on the Mongol Khans of Central Asia, describe the founding of the greatest empires of their day and were number one bestsellers. Desperate to reclaim his throne, Edward lands at Ravenspur with a half-drowned army and his brother Richard at his side. However, possibly Con Iggulden’s greatest triumphs in this book, and the series as a whole, is to make the characters memorable enough to follow what is happening to each one, despite most of our main characters all having the same names. Paper planes, stink bombs and fire-starting: The Dangerous Book for Boys has a sequel, and it's less PC than ever". It's clear how Conn Iggulden has become one of our best-selling historical fiction authors - and I'm looking forward to the next in the series, which he says he is planned as a trilogy but will probably end up as a four or five parter.

For a while i almost had to check that it was really was written by Conn Iggulden, the style felt different, older, more mature.Along with two of his best friends, he forms a band of armed farmers, who then march all the way to London, and sack it.

With a background in English too, he has a handling of the craft quite unlike any other, knowing and understanding exactly what it is that his readers are looking for. Being a thriller, Blackwater was a change in genre for the author, who had mainly written historical fiction up to that point. The Duke of York, Richard, has long eyed the throne of England, and finds ways to plot against the King.Escogí este libro porque me cuadraba para dos retos y ha resultado una gran sorpresa y de las buenas, no, de las mejores.
