Numerous streaming services such as Spotify or Deezer can be accessed as well as internet radio stations or your iTunes (or equivalent) music library. There are no HDMI connections, but if you already use your TV as a hub with DVD/BD, Games console, Set top box etc already HDMI connected to your TV, this means that all you need to do is plug in the Digital optical cable from the sound base to your TV, change your TV speaker from TV speaker to audio out/external speaker and that’s it – it literally takes just a couple of minutes out of the box to set up and play! So it plays exactly what it’s sent, from compressed MP3 files, to uncompressed audio files like FLAC or Apple Lossless.

Classic have been the leading manufacturer in quality replacement remote controls for TV, Hi-Fi and other electronic devices for over 20 years. I would say, that despite the fact the software is obviously flawed, the unit looks to be built well. A new Voice mode claims to boost dialogue clarity, for example, and it’s available in both stereo and surround modes. With the DM55, Canton has created yet another top-drawer audio solution, blending a big, room-filling sound with the sort of finesse and subtlety more associated with home cinema separates.Specialised in warranty and non-warranty Canton DM55 Soundbase Audio Hi-Fi Equipment repairs, regardless of where it was bought.

As a high quality Bluetooth® loudspeaker it also ensures loss-free transmission using apt-X® technology. I have a Canton dm75 and really rate it but do tend to find the speech is a little dull and the more the volumes increased all the background noise is increased too.I was a bit worried about doing away with the little (but excellent) Denon system, my fears were unfounded. The DM55 and DM75 Glass replace the DM50 and DM75 (without glass) and the new DM100 (pictured, above) is a larger model designed for larger flatscreen TVs. com/static/version1705910771/frontend/RicherSounds/default/en_GB/Magento_Catalog/images/product/placeholder/image. The 100 mm woofer ensures deep and rich bass, while the 19 mm tweeter provides clear and detailed high-frequency sounds.

The new soundbases all now come with a glass top, hence the name, promising to be tougher as a result. If you’re after a soundbase that both looks good and performs brilliantly, this Canton DM55 is definitely one you need to audition. Deep clean bass from ancient instruments like the tiorba is a revelation and really full sounds like a piano concerto are handled easily. It looks good too, being all black (about the size of a DVD player) the LED display is clear but not distracting. Whether used for music playback or home theater purposes, the Canton DM 55 aims to deliver high-quality sound performance.

I was prepared for a drop in quality, but it feels closer to the output coming from the TV rather than what I was getting from the Mercury V1s (paired with Sansui SAP201V amp). Canton are a leading German loudspeaker company, so the DM55's superb sound comes as little surprise. The recessed connections area on the back of the unit was a bit awkward to access – took me longer to get the supplied mains cable in than to set up the unit for playing, so make sure you insert all the connections before you put it in place or you’ll need a torch like I did! The DM55 builds on the brilliant performance of its predecessor with a sound that’s not only powerful but also finessed and subtle. The only thing that I never seemed to get to work is the Bluetooth playback, but as I've never needed it no such biggie.
